Text Block
The placement of typography on a page is vital to the way users perceive and engage with content. Blocks of text can be used to make a statement, compel users to take action, and break up sections on a page. The text block is a simple yet imperative block to building pages.
This is a simple block but there are a number of variations we can create. To start, here are a few examples:
As demonstrated above there are several ways text can be presented on a page. It's good to remember that when adding a block like this, the positioning should be influenced by the content around it. For this block to look proportionally correct, context should always be taken into consideration.
Consider the settings for setting up this content
The main portion of this block consists of the Title and Description fields but there a few things we can do to fit our use case.
Text Centered - By default the text aligns to the left side of the page but selecting the Text Centered toggle it will center the text and the call to action button if it's added.
Blue Highlight - Accenting key words in a title makes them pop. Since this is a markdown field entering an underscore before and after a word will add a blue highlight to it. As a short cut the Italic symbol button in the text format options is reserved for highlighting the text.
Call to Action - Add a call to action button by adding some text to the Button Label field and select Show Button Controls to link the button to an entry, URL, email, telephone, sms or asset.
Note
The bold text in this block is only meant to be used as an H2, it will not work as an H1. Keep in mind that page titles should always start with an H1.
The Text Block serves as a cornerstone in webpage design, strategically placing typography to influence user engagement. With options for customization like text alignment, highlighting, and call-to-action buttons, it empowers creators to craft compelling content that resonates with their audience. Whether making a statement, prompting action, or guiding navigation, this versatile block ensures that text placement is not only visually appealing but also contextually relevant.
