Sealants at Piedmont Plastics

Silicone sealants are versatile synthetic compounds used across many industries. Known for their heat resistance and flexible rubber-like properties, these materials offer reliable performance in demanding applications.

Adhesives are typically dispensed in a liquid or semi-liquid form and designed to bond materials together. Unlike mechanical fasteners, adhesives require time to cure either by solvent evaporation or a chemical reaction which creates a strong lasting connection. They are ideal for joining thin or dissimilar materials, reducing weight, and providing vibration dampening benefits.

Sealants on the other hand are formulated to fill gaps and prevent the passage of air, moisture, dust, smoke, and even noise. Once applied they transition from a viscous state to a solid barrier. Room Temperature Vulcanizing (RTV) silicone sealants for example begin curing immediately upon exposure to moisture so quick application is important.

Sealant Cartridge Sizes:

• Most of our sealants are available in 10.1 fluid oz cartridges, perfect for standard applications.

• For larger projects, choose from our 20 fluid oz (600 mL) sausages, 4.5 gallon (17L) pails, or 50 gallon (189L) drums to best meet your needs.
