Marine grade PVC foam sheet, also known as expanded PVC foam, is a go-to substrate for upholstery applications requiring maximum staple and screw retention without water damage. Piedmont's PMG® Aqua-Plas® 1 and Aqua-Plas® 1 Ultra are purpose-built for these demanding environments.
PMG® Aqua-Plas® 1: Aqua-Plas 1 is an eco-friendly PVC foam sheet built for reliable staple and screw retention in everyday marine upholstery applications. Because it's a true marine grade PVC foam sheet, it won't absorb water, so it holds its shape and fastening strength even in consistently wet, humid marine environments. It's a dependable, cost-effective starting point for boat seating and upholstery panel backing.
PMG® Aqua-Plas® 1 Ultra: Aqua-Plas 1 Ultra is another marine-grade PVC foam sheet engineered for excellent staple and screw retention, with enhanced impact resistance for demanding applications. It is an excellent choice for high-traffic or high-stress upholstery areas such as mounting points, fixture attachment locations, and anywhere fasteners need to remain secure under repeated use. It provides a dependable base for upholstery applications where a finished edge and maximum structural strength are not required.
King StarLite® XL: King StarLite® XL is manufactured from select high-grade recycled King StarBoard® high-density polyethylene. It's up to 35% lighter than standard StarBoard while remaining environmentally stabilized against UV, humidity, and water. Because it flexes without breaking, unlike plywood, King StarLite XL is particularly well-suited to marine upholstery substrate applications and other behind-the-scenes uses where a lighter, recycled marine grade HDPE board gets the job done without sacrificing durability.
