Plastics play an important role in the automotive and transportation markets. Plastics are also becoming more common in the professional racing scene. Plastics are lightweight, durable, flame retardant, and operable in racing’s extremely hazardous environment.
Woven Polypropylene (Tegris®) is commonly used to manufacture high-tech racing splitters for the racing industry. At a racecar’s front end, the splitter sits only about 1/16” above the ground. This allows the aerodynamic splitter to create maximum downforce. Polypropylene offers extreme durability with an excellent strength-to-weight ratio. Polypropylene’s impact resistance, light weight, and corrosion resistance also make it highly suitable for racing applications.
Piedmont Plastics carries a large inventory of woven polypropylene. Splitters can be custom fabricated by our machinists and made to order with a customer supplied drawing. Piedmont’s extensive experience and machining capabilities can supply you with a close-tolerance splitter quickly. Our qualified representatives will be happy to help solve your needs for any plastics application.
